Milliner John P. John, aka “Mr. John,” designed this chocolate brown and black feathered cocktail hat. John, who sent many hats to The Register founder Orene Muse over the years, also created Vivien Leigh’s hats for Gone with the Wind.

From left: This forest green hat with taupe/natural feathers belonged
to former broadcast journalist and entrepreneur Nita Laverdet, who wore it to a Mad Hatters luncheon in the 1970s. The late Nina Pugh purchased the periwinkle blue cocktail hat and chocolate brown derby in 1958 to wear during her term as president of the Junior League of Baton Rouge.

Studded berets from the 1960s.

A burgundy fedora, circa 1970s, was a gift from BeBe Facundus, owner of the former WBBU-FM 107.3 radio station.
