Our picks for Mardi Gras fun; FeBe closing in May
Our picks for Mardi Gras fun
With Mardi Gras only a little over a week away, we’re already planning what to wear. Whether you’re headed to NOLA, have plans to watch Spanish Town next weekend or are celebrating the day of, the following clothing and accessories top our list for Mardi Gras-musts. First is an over-the-shoulder bag from BCBGeneration. The Tessa the La Vie Boheme shoulder bag has a magnetic snap closure and an interior zip pocket and is made of faux leather. It’s perfect for keeping your hands free so you can grab and catch the goods. Find it at Macy’s. Next up: We’re loving these purple or green Chuck Taylors. Louisianans know carnival season includes a lot of walking, and we’re all for taking it easy on the feet. Available at Jean Therapy. Lastly, for those who have plans to attend the Spanish Town parade Feb. 14, Blink has this shirt, this shirt and these shorts in stock. Best of all, they’re all on sale.
FeBe closing in May
FeBe Clothing, which has been located on Corporate Boulevard in Towne Center since 2005, is closing its doors in May, says Ron Jones, manager of the boutique’s Metairie store. “It was time to renew our lease and we decided not to renew,” he says. “We’re going to focus on the Metairie location.” The ladies’ apparel shop has all its inventory marked down to 50% off, with some items reduced beyond that. Nothing is excluded. “We’re trying to move as little as possible,” Jones says. He also says that once the store is officially closed, he hopes the Baton Rouge customers will make the drive out to Metairie. “We appreciate the great years we’ve had in Baton Rouge,” he says. “We are going to miss our longtime customers and hope they come to see us.”
