From the April issue: Home-grown designers
No “Best Dressed” issue would be complete without a look at some of the most innovative designers to come out of Baton Rouge, a small group of talented individuals whose artistry and technique defy the limits of small city living.
Perhaps Justin Gloston, a Baton Rouge-born leather good designer who specializes in handbags and shoes, knows this best of all. After studying in Atlanta and interning in California, Gloston has gone on to design for BCBG Max Azria, Target and Charming Charlie. He traveled to Asian fashion capitals in Hong Kong and Korea before ultimately landing back in Los Angeles to launch his own R3FORM brand.
Erin Blank, meanwhile, encounters her fashion designs through the lens of ethics, graduating from Louisiana Tech into a New York career designing garments using vintage fabrics and modern inspirations for her brand ErinElsie.
And Geno Brown remains Baton Rouge’s own local treasure with his family’s Brown & Brown Custom Clothiers on Government Street. A master of custom leather boots and shoes, as well as an expert tailor in shirts and suits, Brown holds his own as the go-to stylist for LSU athletes, NBA stars and TV personalities.
