After thousands of interior designers and retailers flocked to High Point, North Carolina, for the bi-annual High Point Market this month, we jumped at the chance to talk to one of Baton Rouge’s own attendees to catch a glimpse of design trends to come. Fresh from the recent Spring 2021 Market, past High Point Market Authority Style Spotter and Baton Rouge-based designer Arianne Bellizaire of Arianne Bellizaire Interiors gave us the scoop on the freshest and latest trends straight from the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world. Read on to discover the design themes Bellizaire predicts we will continue to see throughout the next year:
1. Natural selections:
“I noticed lots of pieces that had distinctive nods to nature. Whether it was the materials used or the organic shapes, this trend was evident in just about every showroom.”
2. Cool carvings:
“I was really impressed by the incorporation of sculptural shapes in everything from accent pieces to accessories and lighting.”
3. Beautiful bouclé:
“This nubby, comfy material appeared in almost every showroom we visited. It was the material on sofas, chairs, stools and even pillows.”
4. Well rounded:
“I loved the bold curves I saw on sofa frames, chair frames and case good pieces!”
5. Fit to be tied:
“The detail of roping on chairs, stools, table frames and outdoor furniture pieces was definitely a theme we saw in many showrooms.”
