We Tried It: How Trifecta Sports Therapy promotes health and wellness

Group workout classes are more popular than ever. While it’s encouraging people to get active, it also causes a lot of soreness and a need for recovery.

I fell in love with group workout classes so much so that I decided to become an instructor at Yoglates. Because I have been teaching and taking classes around five times per week, I wanted to try out a recovery center. I landed on Trifecta Sports Therapy, looking for relaxation and muscle recovery. Spoiler alert: that is exactly what I got.

Newly certified Yogalates instructors Raina Lauren Vallot, Allison Hughs and me.

Trifecta offers several different recovery and relaxation therapies such as saunas, cold plunges, group classes, taping, cupping, manual therapy and more. I opted to start with a 30-minute sauna session, followed by a 60-minute bodywork session and finished off with a cold plunge.

When I arrived at Trifecta, I got a quick tour while hearing about Trifecta’s history and why recovery is so important–something I was unaware of before visiting. Shortly after, I headed into the infrared sauna with chromotherapy lights. My therapist, Hannah, set the light to red, which helps with anti-aging and supports circulatory and nervous system functions. The sauna had Bluetooth speakers inside, so I was able to play my own music and just relax.

After my sweat session, I headed over to the massage rooms for my bodywork session with Adam. This massage therapy work felt similar to a deep tissue massage with more emphasis on stretching and lengthening the muscles. Before we headed to the cold plunge, we did a little bit of work on a vibrating plate. Adam explained that these plates help to improve flexibility, activate muscles, expand your range of motion and encourage blood flow.

Finally, I made it to the cold plunge. Hannah gave me a quick pep talk, and then I hopped into the tub. When I tell you that was the coldest water I’ve ever felt, that pep talk was necessary. After four minutes, I was out. Once I was dried off and changed, I felt like a new person. The cold plunge was not easy, but my body felt renewed afterward.

I left Trifecta feeling relaxed and rejuvenated–and ready to teach my next Yogalates class.
