Get freaky at the Baton Rouge Gallery’s Surreal Salon exhibition
Pop art. Dadaism. Genres that probably have no name yet. All of it influences the art on display at this year’s Surreal Salon, the annual exhibition of out-of-this-world paintings, sculpture, photography and more opening today at the Baton Rouge Gallery. Held in partnership with the LSU Museum of Art, the exhibition will showcase more than 50 artists hailing from 18 states and five foreign countries, each one selected by guest juror Carrie Ann Baade, professor of painting and drawing at Florida State University.
The show is free to browse from now, January 4, until Thursday, January 27. But the real party happens on Saturday, January 22, when the museum hosts its annual Surreal Salon Soirée fundraiser. Dress up in costume to match your favorite artwork or just show up in a funky frock suited for sipping and snacking.
