The Gears & Beers charity bike ride and pub crawl is back for a second year
Remember the time in life when you never felt more free than on a bicycle? Roaming the neighborhood with the wind in your hair, and socializing with every kid on the block. Reminisce on those glory days (with the alcohol perks of adulthood) at the Gears & Beers charity bike ride and pub crawl this Sunday, November 5, benefiting Front Yard Bikes.
Jason Brumfield, one of the event organizers, says that it’s more than just enjoying the outdoors and getting a little exercise in.
“For our second year, we’ll be donating money raised to Front Yard Bikes,” Brumfield says. “This is an incredible nonprofit that deserves more attention in our area for all the good that they do. We’re happy to help them in any way we can, and also have a great time while doing it.”
The adult-only event will again show the Baton Rouge community that it’s possible to safely ride long distances through our city. The ride will start and end at Perkins Road Community Park, going through the Southdowns neighborhood and around the LSU Lakes, along with quick stops at the designated bars and restaurants.
“Last year we had a great turnout, and everyone really enjoyed meeting new people and biking together,” He says. Those who sign up will receive a t-shirt and three coupons for discounted beer at Murphy’s, Zippy’s and SoLou.
