#TakeoutTuesday: Torchy’s Tacos arrives in Baton Rouge

Everything’s bigger in Texas—especially the love for tacos. Or at least it used to be, until Torchy’s Tacos arrived in Baton Rouge and captured the hearts of this most foodie-friendly state. Originating in Austin, Torchy’s Tacos opened its doors on Nicholson Drive this past Tuesday, July 22, drawing a socially distant crowd which has waited patiently for these “damn good tacos” since COVID-19 delayed the restaurant’s plans for an April opening.

With a chef-inspired menu featuring responsibly sourced ingredients—including the Trailer Park Taco’s winning combination of fried chicken, green chiles, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheddar jack cheese with poblano sauce, plus the Louisiana-only Bayou Pirate Taco dressed in fried crawfish tails, andouille sausage, cabbage slaw, chow-chow pickled relish, chipotle sauce, Diablo sauce and chopped cilantro—Torchy’s stadium-adjacent digs might just be enough to ease our tensions over the upcoming football season.
