Trading spaces – Capital City retailers are on the move
LD Linens and Décor has tripled its size in relocating to a 3,600-square-foot space. Two doors down from its former spot in Southdowns Village Shopping Center, the expanded store has ample room for additional product lines, including more dinnerware and wedding registry items. “I believe that each shopper can be his or her own designer,” explains owner Lisa Davis Gilly. “With the new space, we have plenty of room to display sample fabrics and conduct classes.”
Occupying the former LD space will be I Do Bridal Couture. Slated to open in January, the boutique will have double the floor space of its original location, which is also in the Southdowns Village complex. “We’ll be able to accommodate many more brides,” explains owner Ramsey Roberts Sims. “We’ll have two private suites, so each bride and her family will still have the feeling of having the store to themselves.” Sims has recently picked up two new lines, Monique Lhuillier and Tulle New York, plus more accessories.
The staff at Edit by LBP is settling into new digs at Acadian Village Shopping Center. The upscale women’s boutique, previously on Perkins Road near Highland Road, is now located next to Trader Joe’s. “I was attracted to this area because it’s so eclectic, and walkable,” says owner Lauren Bailey Pollard. “We’ll still offer all the designers that our clients love, like Rag & Bone, Vince, Helmut Lang, Loeffler Randall and James Perse. Plus, we’re always picking up new lines and planning ‘meet the designer’ events.”
Next to Edit’s new location will be The Keeping Room, moving from its Jefferson Highway store. Owner Amanda Alexander expects to be in the new space by early next month. “The layout will be wide open, with 1,600 feet,” says Alexander. “We’ll also have a private room exclusively for bridal appointments, so we’ll be able to do more custom design.” Alexander will continue to carry popular stationery lines such as Crane & Co., Vera Wang and William Arthur, and will begin to stock luggage by Jon Hart Design and bath products by Lollia.
