A look at art-related events going on around Baton Rouge this week:

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is bringing back Scene Rouge for the 2016-17 season. This membership program gives young professionals discounted tickets to a variety of events put on by the Arts Council. To celebrate the program’s kickoff, the Arts Council is co-sponsoring the Rock the Roof event at Tin Roof Brewery on Sunday, August 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. This event is free and will include musical performances by Elsah, Bantam Foxes and The Widowers. There will also be food provided by Barbosa’s Barbecue and Rosch Bakehaus, and donations of canned food or funds will be accepted for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

The Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center is hosting its annual nature-themed fine art exhibit. Each year’s show features a different medium or motif, and this year’s theme is Louisiana trees. The exhibit will run from next Tuesday, August 30, until September 25, and all ages are welcome. Cash prizes are given for Visitor Choice and Best in Theme categories. There is a general admission fee, but the exhibit will be free to pass-holders.

Elizabethan Gallery is hosting its annual summer show, titled #OnlyInLouisiana. The show will feature new works by Associated Women in the Arts and will open with a reception on Thursday, August 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. in conjunction with the “A Mid City Night’s Dream” event. A raffle will be held during the reception to benefit East Baton Rouge Parish schools affected by flooding. The reception is free and open to the public. The show will hang in the gallery until Saturday, October 1.

Kids out of school til September? Here’s another option to occupy their time. The Arts Council’s Artsplosion! Fall 2016, a weeklong kids camp, begins next Monday, August 29. The camp intends to introduce kids to a variety of art disciplines through lessons and play, with each session utilizing creativity to promote critical thinking and introduce students to new concepts through art-making. Campers will also get the opportunity to collaborate with professional artists in visual arts, music, theater and dance, and will even go on field trips to local arts and cultural institutions in downtown Baton Rouge. The camp is for children ages 5 through 10 and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. To register, visit artsbr.org.
