Bye Bye Beige: Interior designer Rachel Cannon’s three color predictions for 2025

While interior designer Rachel Cannon was across the pond attending the Paris Déco Off, three key colors kept catching her eye. She says these dominant hues are signaling major shifts in interior design trends, namely saying goodbye to beige and cream and hello to bright and fresh.

“These color stories stood out as clear indicators of what to expect in design in the next few years: bolder, warmer and more connected to nature than ever before,” Cannon says in her Instagram post highlighting the trend report.

Easy Green

“Green swept through Paris like a fresh spring breeze, with tailored coats and structured outerwear leading the verdant revolution,” she says. “The hue continued its dominance in fabric showrooms, where rich emeralds and sage tones signaled a return to nature-inspired sophistication. This color story reflects our growing need to bring the outside in, creating environments that soothe and ground us.”

Red Returns

“Red radiated through every corner of Paris during Déco Off, from bustling café awnings to luxe textile houses,” Cannon says in the post. “This fierce revival of crimson signals a bold shift away from the safe neutrals that have dominated design, marking red as a color to watch. The emergence of this powerful hue suggests a collective desire for spaces that energize and inspire.”

Just Peachy

Last year we highlighted Pantone’s 2024 Color of the Year, “Peach Fuzz,” and according to Cannon, the shade is here to stay.

“Perhaps most surprisingly, peach and apricot tones rippled through Paris’s design scene, marking a delectable shift from cold minimalism to warm sophistication,” she says. “These juicy shades dominated fabric collections and installations, proving that orange-tinged hues are having their sweetest moment yet. The presence of these warm, inviting tones hints at design’s movement toward spaces that feel both refined and welcoming.”
