Jewel tones are taking over homes in the new year
It’s time to start preparing for the new year. To help you get ahead of the curve, we’re providing our thorough research on what colors will dominate the interior design world in 2025 with help from local design specialists.
According to Elle Decor, the colors of the year will mainly be jewel tones. “As of now: Jewel tones are raring for the limelight,” the article states. And Amanda Cason of Amanda Cason Interiors agrees with this forecast. “With the continued reemergence of the use of antique and vintage home furnishings, it feels natural that deep and rich colors will continue to be front and center as historic referencing furniture pieces, fabrics and finishes pair well with jewel and other rich color tones.”
That said, knowing how to incorporate jewel tones correctly is essential.
“The best way to use jewel tones is making sure that the color of choice is correct for the context of the space and for the people using the space,” Cason says. “I had a client specifically tell me that they gravitate heavily towards jewel tones, so in the planning process, we figured out that their ideal application in their new home was utilizing the deeper colors in key areas to balance the larger open living areas that they wanted to remain more neutral.”
For those who find jewel tones a bit intimidating, Cason suggests starting small. Add one piece of furniture or a rug so the hues don’t overwhelm. But Cason isn’t afraid of these bold colors. She has decked out deep-colored rooms, and her clients love them.
“Jewel tones can evoke moodiness, so ensuring they are used in spaces with well-thought-out lighting will achieve more successful results,” she says. “If you wind down in your bedroom or living room, steer away from colors that feel too invigorating.”
For those with more neutral or minimalist tastes, Cason suggests utilizing small jewel-toned accent pieces. “Often pairing a gem tone with softer neutrals results in a nice balanced celebration of both,” she notes.
But no matter your taste, 2025 will be the year to let your home shine by incorporating jewel tones, whether big or small.
