Sam the Snowman—better known as Burl Ives—stole the show with his hit song “Silver and Gold,” written for and performed during the now-famous Christmas classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. While it’s been 60 years since the TV special first aired, Ives’ lyrics still ring true—everyone wishes for silver and gold, especially when it comes to holiday style.

Any holiday celebration ensemble is complete with embellishments that sparkle and shine. So it’s only right to have silver as our color of the month for December. The icy and shiny tone pairs nicely with nearly every color, and metallics have stayed at the top of trend lists this year.
