I adored Barcelona! The community’s love for culture is very close to what we experience here in south Louisiana. And even though it’s a big city, the people still tend to move to a slower beat. One part of Barcelona that captured my attention was the story and peaceful vibe of La Sagrada Família. It is a massive Roman Catholic Church that has been under construction since 1882 and is still not finished for various reasons ranging from relying on private funding to the Spanish War. Architect Antoni Gaudí made the Sagrada Família his life’s work and was the designer until his death in 1926 at the age of 73. La Sagrada Família is projected to be completed in 2026 on the centennial of Gaudí’s death.
